• volunteers

people that will do a certain role in exchange for no monetary compensation.   Volunteers, while vital for many events and festivals, need to be used cautiously; the general rule of thumb is if it’s a role that isn’t essential to the execution of the event (i.e., a security guard), then it can be considered to be a volunteer role.    This is because volunteers can flake out (some events assume as high as a 30-40% flake rate) and you need to know you’ve got all your mandatory roles covered at all times. Examples of volunteer roles include greeting guests as they arrive and handing them maps; helping staff the guest services / info booth; helping oversee VIP areas in a very low capacity (under the direction of the VIP Coordinators); helping keep the grounds clean in conjunction with the Green Crew.
