• gaff tape

Gaff tape, also known as Gaffer’s Tape, is differentiated by duct and other tape by having fabric on its backing, and having adhesive that is more heat-resistant and less susceptible to damaging surfaces.

Gaff tape comes in multiple colors and sizes.  A good rule of thumb is to always have 2″ black gaff, 2″ white gaff, and 1″ neon (yellow, orange, green) gaff.   The latter is also referred to as spike tape and is used to mark places where backline / instruments / performers are to set on stage.
